Two most useful ICT tools
Facebook and Microsoft Office (Word and PowerPoint)
Roles these ICT tools play in early childhood education
Facebook helps the centre to keep in contact with parents. The centre can construct a private page so that parents can access information posted on the page without fearing that others may invade the privacy of their children. Facebook can also help parents to get a better understanding of the activities their children are engaged and be updated about events of the centre.
Microsoft Office helps the centre to prepare materials that is required for classes in a variety of ways, whether through printing of documents or even preparing of slide shows. It also allows teachers to prepare presentations during meetings or printing of announcements for parents, and also letters to inform parents of centre events.

ICT Tools used in childcare centres
What are the ICT tools used in childcare centres?
In childcare centres I have previously visited, the only ICT tool I have seen is a computer.
How are these ICT tools used to enhance the learning process of students?
A computer is usually placed in the classroom for teachers to engage children in activities such as storytelling, or the exploration of certain softwares to learn skills such as counting, sorting, colours, spelling, etc. They can also be used for children to engage in educational games.
What is the role of the teacher in sustaining the use of ICT in teaching and learning?
The teacher needs to construct rules and also teach children how to use these tools and handle them with care. The teacher also needs to ensure children are able to take turns and that all children have a fair chance at the computer. Also, the teacher is crucial in the selection of games and softwares for children so as to ensure that children are learning relevant and useful skills.

KWLQ Framework
K (What I already know)
I was previously taught how to use Microsoft Word and Powerpoint. Through using these two tools for my homework, my skills for these two softwares are quite functional and I have no problems using them to complete my work on my own.
W (What I want to learn)
I am quite weak in IT, and past experiences with previous teachers in my Diploma classes have not allowed me to enjoy IT nor master anything past the functional use of Microsoft Word and Powerpoint. For the lessons to come, I would like to better learn how to use Microsoft Excel and other relevant softwares for my work. With Excel, I don't really know how to use equations to link up the data so that I do not have to key them in one by one. Next to that, I hope I can learn the use of softwares that will help me with my work.
L (What I learned)
I learned how to use Smartart and also make use of the artistic effects available in Powerpoint, and also to embed a video from YouTube. I also learned to mark an animation path on Powerpoint. I also learned how to filter data using Excel, as well as include a sparkline for the data available.
Q (What questions I still have)
I had difficulties following the instructions that was given to me. I wonder if the instructions given can be more specific and step-by-step so that I know where to find the various icons. This way I will not have to wait around for my friends to try it out when I am unclear about things.
